On a Monday afternoon, at Bayview High, five students walk into detention:
Bronwyn- the nerd that never breaks a rule.
Addy – the picture-perfect homecoming princess.
Nate – the criminal on probation for dealing.
Cooper – the all-star baseball pitcher.
Simon- the outcast and the creator of Bayview High’s notorious gossip app.
The thing is, Simon is dead by the end of detention. And it was a hit. Simon was murdered, at least according to investigators. Monday he died. Tuesday, he planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates, which makes all four of them suspects in his murder. Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who’s still on the loose?Everyone has secrets, right? What really matters is how far you would go to protect them.
Warning: Spoiler Alert
This book keeps you on your toes. It took crime fiction to the next level. Loved the suspense and constant guessing of the who murdered. This book had was both great and disappointing.
Character development was amazing. I have no complains with it. It was just perfect.
Plot twisters were nearly on ever page. It was a real page turner.
I love how McManus used stereotypes on her characters and then destroyed them.
I would have loved to see more of a back story to Simon and his murder. Why it happened and how he panned everything. I know that you got a bit of understanding of why he did it, but I wanted more.
There where some plot holes in this book.
The police investigation felt unrealistic. It felt like they were purposely being dumb.
McManus got you so hyped on figuring who the murderer was that when the bomb was dropped, so did your jaw. I had to reread that part to believe it. I seriously did not see it being suicide. It shocked me to the core.
It was an excellent book. I am really looking forward to the rest of this series.
