Ashes of Aether (Legends of Imyria, Book 1)

About the Book:

Loving a necromancer’s son comes at a perilous price…

As the daughter of Nolderan’s most powerful mage, Reyna Ashbourne has only ever faced two obstacles: her father’s wrath for slacking with her magic studies, and being shunned by many for loving Arluin, a necromancer’s son.

But Reyna’s life takes a bitter turn when Arluin’s exiled father returns to wreak his vengeance upon the city. With the living dead plaguing the streets, the boy she loves is forced to choose between his heart and his blood.

When those dearest to her perish, Reyna vows to become as mighty as her father. However, the path of the magi is no easy one, and she must first complete her Mage Trials to prove she has the required strength of heart, mind, and magic.

Yet the shadows of the past rise once again, threatening to tear Nolderan asunder.

And so too her heart.

This book was so good. It was fill of betrayal, romance, badass female characters and lots of magic. The plot, world, story and characters were all really complex.

As I said before, this was complex. There was lots of development in it. The book started really well, and you didn’t get bored as it was fast-paced. The book did slow down towards the middle, but only for a few chapters.

World-building never stopped. I loved how Rose kept adding more details about the world as you kept reading the book.

Character development was amazing. I loved how Reyna seem annoying and a horrible character, but became one of the most relatable characters ever. How she grew and developed in this book was so well done.

Overall, this book was an emotional read. It relatable characters and was filled with so many twists. I would highly recommend this book to fans of Audrey Grey, Sylvia Mercedes, Elise Kova, Leigh Bardugo, Sarah J Maas, and Holly Black.
